So, the topic for the day is ‘ Shifting the legal marriage age for women to 21 years . The minimum age of marriage for women was revised from 18 to 21 years in a proposal passed by the cabinet. It was suggested that doing so would increase Women's Empowerment. MWCD (Ministry of Women and Child Developmen t) formed a task force headed by Jaya Jaitly. She said that the reason behind increasing the minimum age for marriage the agenda wasn't population control. They claimed that it was to tackle the issues related to motherhood.
